SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Guidelines for Abstract Submissions

  • Abstract should be submitted electronically via the conference website ONLY.
  • Abstract should be written in English.
  • One presenter may submit more than 1 abstract.
  • Abstract must be submitted in the abstract submission portal after login. Abstracts submitted by email or postage will not be accepted.
  • The author shall indicate (in number) the area of the research at the Top Right corner of the abstract according to the research cluster list below (Refer to the Research Cluster).
  • The abstract should not contain graphics or references. Please use abbreviations with restraint.
  • Use standard abbreviations; avoid uncommon ones; if necessary, put them in parentheses after the full word's first mention.
  • Abstract content should not exceed 300 words (excluding title, author names, and details).
  • Abstracts must be in clear, publication-ready English with proper grammar and spelling.
  • Proofread and make all necessary changes before submitting. Any request for amendment will not be entertained.
  • Successful abstracts will be published in the AFSM Congress 2024 website or proceeding booklet.
  • Authors (oral/poster) under the age of 40 years old (born after 1st January 1984) are eligible to apply for the AFSM Young Researcher Award 2024.

DEADLINE

Abstract Submission will be closed on 31st January 2024 at 5.00 pm, Malaysia time (GMT+8).

RESEARCH CLUSTER

The conference will cover the following clusters:

  1. Sports & Exercise Medicine
  2. Sports Science, Coaching Science & Sports Integrity
  3. Sports Surgery
  4. Sports Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation

CONDITION OF ACCEPTANCE

It is a pre-requisite of the acceptance of the abstract that the submitter must register to attend the AFSM Congress 2024 in person (physical attendance).

Abstracts submitted before payment of registration are eligible for an offer of acceptance. However, final acceptance requires registration with full payment by 15th March 2024.

ABSTRACT REVIEW

All abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee to ensure the scientific process's rigorous standards, upholding the research area's integrity and quality. The Committee reserves the rights to:

  • Suggestions or recommendations for revision, amendment or rejection
  • Select the abstracts relevant to the session.
  • Decide on the final form of presentation (Oral or Poster presentation).

MODE OF PRESENTATION

Authors may choose their preferred method of presentation upon abstract submission. However, the final decision lies with the Scientific Committee. All abstracts will be reviewed and assigned to an appropriate session.

Authors of the accepted abstracts will be notified of the mode of presentations as follows:

Oral Presentation

  • A total of 15 minutes will be allocated for Oral Presentation, with 10 minutes of presentation + 5 minutes of Question and Answer session.
  • Presenters must submit presentation slides in MS. PowerPoint format only (.ppt or .pptx) with on-screen show 16:9 (landscape) to the conference secretariat by 5.00 pm on 29th February 2024 via email (event@malaysiansportsmed.org).
  • Presenter must present onsite during the conference.

Poster Presentation

  • Presenters are required to submit a physical poster on the event day upon registration.
  • A total of 8 minutes will be allocated for Poster Presentation, with 5 minutes of presentation + 3 minutes of Question and Answer session.
  • The poster size shall be A0 (84.1cm x 118.9 cm) in format and portrait in orientation.

Authors must conform to the following:

  • By submitting the abstract, you accept responsibility for its accuracy and acknowledge that amendments are not allowed post-submission. The provided information will be published as submitted.
  • All co-authors must be aware of and consent to the abstract's content and data before submission. The correspondent author serves as the contact person for all correspondence and is responsible for sharing status updates with co-authors.
  • Submission implies consent to publish the abstract in all AFSM Congress 2024 materials, including the website. Authors are responsible for obtaining any required copyright permissions related to prior presentations, equipment, or other materials.
  • Authors must obtain relevant regulatory authority permissions and appropriate consent.
  • Authors must ensure the originality of their work and avoid infringing upon any copyrights or personal rights.
  • Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, such as financial interests or advisory board memberships.
  • Submission of the online Registration and Abstract Submission form signifies agreement with all terms and conditions listed on the conference website (www.afsm2024.com).
